About · Production Design

Foam is where the heart is

  • Lance L. Ziesch designed original 1984 product packaging so store shelves and gas-station dressing would read as the year without modern brands.
  • Wardrobe hats were created by Ruff Embroidery of Hanston, Kansas. Monicca De Luna aged pieces so new garments looked worn.
  • The Haun Museum in Jetmore provided the gas pump and many authentic period items seen on screen.
  • Paul J. Porter’s stated references include An American Werewolf in London, Friday the 13th, Evil Dead, and The Howling.

Sony Walkman

A period-correct Sony Walkman found at the Depot Theater in Dodge City, Kansas, which also provided most other props, wardrobe, and set dressing.

RCA VHS camcorder

An original RCA VHS camcorder that belonged to the director’s grandmother — the first camera he shot with as a child in the late 1980s. It still worked.
